Students are preparing to honor community members, relatives and ODY alumni who have served in the U.S. military during our annual Veterans Day assembly on Friday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
Winter Sports informational meeting for JV and Varsity sports will be Thursday, November 14th at 6pm in the Richfield Springs cafeteria. Parents and students are encouraged to attend to get all information from coaches pertaining to the Basketball and Volleyball seasons.
Today, October 27th is Owen D. Young's 150th birthday. In celebration of his birthday a gathering was held at the Owen D. Young Central School auditorium led by Mrs. Suzannah Young Ciernia and Mrs. Michelle Hitchcock. Over 100 community members and alumni turned out for the celebration. Those in attendance heard Milleta Oldick Andela (alumni) sing, Mr. Paul Doty, Curator of Special Collections and Archives from St. Lawrence University and Dr. Keith Landa, SUNY Board of Trustees speak on behalf of Owen D. Young's impact on the state and private colleges of New York. In addition, Mrs. Patricia Collins Pullis spoke about how her and her family have been impacted by Owen D. Young and his love for education as well as this community. Finally everyone had cupcakes and ice cream before singing happy birthday. Thank you to all who came out to celebrate the man who donated our wonderful school to this community!
In order to encourage student attendance at the Girls Varsity Soccer game on Friday, October 25th in Richfield we will be offering students in grades 7-12 a bus to Richfield at 2:55. If interested students must sign up by noon on Friday. Students will be responsible for their own ride home from Richfield after the game.
Congratulations to the RS-ODY girls soccer team on their Tri-League league championship! The ladies defeated a worthy Edmeston/Morris opponent 2-1 with the game winning goal scored by Hunter Ough assist from Camryn Marshall.
The ladies host a sectional game on Friday, October 25th in Richfield.
Congratulations to our RS-ODY girls soccer team for their #1 sectional ranking. They will host a home sectional game on Friday, October 25th in Richfield. The girls play for the Tri-League title tomorrow at the Write National Soccer Campus against Edmeston at 3:30.

The Owen D. Young-Richfield Springs athletic program is seeking an individual to coach one of its two boys modified basketball teams. The season begins Monday, January 6, 2025 and runs until March 14, 2025. Practices will use both Owen D. Young and Richfield Springs gymnasiums on a rotating basis usually immediately after school. Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Soccer team on their 3-0 win against Madison today to win the Waterville Tournament. Goals scored by Izzy, Hunter and Gabby. Tournament Allstars Cami, Jocelyn, Gabby, Izzy and Sophia. A great team effort in both games to win the championship without giving up a goal!

REMINDER for families of students in grades 6, 9 and 12 — Orientation is next Wednesday, Aug. 21 in the auditorium at the following times:
• 6th grade: 5:30-6:15 p.m.
• 9th grade: 6:15-7 p.m.
• 12th grade: 7-7:30 p.m.

During the last two weeks of Summer Program, students visited the Van Hornesville Fish Hatchery, Hardy Farm, and wrapped up their community projects. Summer program finished with a Splash in Otsego Lake when the students visited Glimmerglass State Park.
Summer program has been a cow of a good time! Students have been learning about local history, creating obstacle courses and programing robots, building forts, designing amusement parks, swimming, and they even visited a local dairy farm!
