Firefighters from the Van Hornesville Fire Department shared important safety tips with students during an Oct. 11 visit for Fire Prevention Week.
The firefighters reminded students about the importance of checking batteries and making sure that smoke detectors in their homes are in good working order. This echoed the theme of this year’s national prevention campaign: Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!
The VHFD firefighters brought their trucks along on the visit, which gave students an opportunity to learn about the equipment and gear that are used when battling fires.
ODY CSD thanks the firefighters who made this learning experience possible, and for sharing life-saving lessons with our students.
